Newton-Wellesley Hospital Launches Enterprise Web Site Powered By netEDITOR-pro

December 08, 2003

Boston, MA. December 8, 2003 - Bridgeline Software announced today that it has developed and launched the newly designed public website for the Newton-Wellesley Hospital (www.nwh.org)

The newly developed web property provides Newton-Wellesley Hospital patients with increased accessibility, bringing the hospital closer to the community. In addition, the web site provides users with important health updates as well as specific information about Newton-Wellesley Hospital including its clinical centers and medical/surgical departments. The architecture includes online referral assistance, which provides patients with access to physicians from a broad range of specialties and an online e-Commerce pre-payment and registration service for a wide array of wellness classes. Visitors to the site also have the ability to sign up to receive the Newton-Wellesley newsletter via email and view previous issues from the archive.

The Newton-Wellesley Hospital site was developed using Bridgeline Software's enterprise-class Content Management System, netEDITOR-pro. With netEDITOR-pro, non-technical users are empowered to maintain relevant content on the website while preserving the common look and feel across the sites. In addition, netEDITOR-pro provides other advanced features such as enhanced workflow options, multiple site content publishing, group security, and LDAP and active directory support. As an Application Integration Platform, netEDITOR-pro enables any software developer to easily integrate web content management and other proprietary databases and applications under a single unified framework.

Bridgeline Software is currently in the process of developing a patient pre-registration module that will allow individuals to complete the registration process prior to coming into the hospital for their scheduled tests. Patients will benefit by proceeding directly to the department for their test, thereby circumventing the hospital registration line.

Chris Parisi, IT Project Manager at Newton-Wellesley Hospital said, "When we began looking for a web development partner we knew we needed a robust content management system that our non-tech savvy editors would be comfortable with. netEDITOR-pro was our product of choice. Our team found netEDITOR-pro easy to use, intuitive, with great features and functionality. It provided a look-and-feel that was readily adopted by our users. For a web site to be successful it is critical that the content be dynamic, fresh, and up-to-date." In addition NWH has found there are many areas with demonstrable return-on-investment (ROI) on this project. Patients can access the information they need quickly and without calling the hospital. Event Registration and Pre-Registration components can significantly reduce wait times as manual tasks can be automated.

Newton-Wellesley Hospital is a full system member of Partners HealthCare System, Inc. (PHCS), a nonprofit organization that includes acute care hospitals Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's/Faulkner Hospitals, The North Shore Medical Center, and specialty hospitals McLean Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, as well as Dana-Farber/Partners CancerCare, and the community-based doctors and hospitals of Partners Community HealthCare, Inc.

Newton-Wellesley Hospital provides a wide range of services, including medical, surgical, obstetrical, neonatal, pediatric and psychiatric care. Newton-Wellesley has been serving its community for over a century. The medical staff of the Hospital includes nearly 1,000 physicians practicing a full range of specialties.
