The National Fire Protection Association Launches New Enterprise Website Powered by netEDITOR-pro

October 27, 2004

Boston, MA. October 27, 2004 - Bridgeline Software announced today that it has successfully launched a new web property for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The site was developed utilizing Bridgeline's content management software, netEDITOR-pro.

The NFPA web site (www.nfpa.org) is the organization's primary source of communication for its major constituencies that include NFPA members, non-member professionals involved in fire safety, and the general public. The web site, with nearly 2,000 pages of content, is updated daily and serves as the authoritative source for news, current events, and information about fire safety. In addition, an e-commerce section of the site, NFPA Catalog, offers users the latest safety codes and standards, training, and research for purchase on-line.

Bridgeline's development team worked with the NFPA and their end users to re-architect and redesign the site that resulted in some significant usability enhancements, one notable area of improvement is the site navigation. The site was developed with netEDITOR-pro utilizing its Application Integration Platform capabilities. With netEDITOR-pro, NFPA non-technical users are empowered to maintain relevant content on the website while preserving the common look and feel across the sites. In addition netEDITOR-pro provides other advanced features such as enhanced workflow options, multiple site content publishing, group security, and LDAP and active directory support. As part of the netEDITOR-pro implementation, Bridgeline worked with a third party vendor to integrate NFPA's Microsoft Commerce Server application with netEDITOR-pro, as well as re-design catalog pages to improve the usability and shopping experience for the customer.

Jane Albert, NFPA's Project Leader said, “Bridgeline's netEDITOR-pro content management software will streamline how our content contributors edit, approve and publish content. In addition, we believe that the usability enhancements developed by Bridgeline will significantly improve the user experience and lead to increased revenues from the NFPA Catalog.”
