Institute on Medicine as a Profession Selects iapps to Develop Online Library

April 27, 2005

Washington DC. April 27, 2005 - The Institute on Medicine as a Profession (IMAP) has retained iapps, a division of Bridgeline Software, to develop a sophisticated online resource library for the Center on Medicine as a Profession. The Center is based at the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in New York City.

Through research and policy initiatives, IMAP’s mission is to shape a world inside and outside of medicine that is responsive to the ideals of professionalism. Established in 2003 with a $7.5 million grant from the Open Society Institute, IMAP conducts research on the past, present, and future roles of professionalism in guiding individual behavior and collective action. The goal of the organization is to ensure that professionalism is relevant to physicians, as well as leaders of medical organizations, policy analysts, public officials, and consumers. IMAP collaborates with other foundations and organizations to carry out its mission.

iapps will design, develop and host a powerful, database-driven online library for the Center on Medicine as a Profession. A key goal of the engagement is to deliver a highly usable online resource that will provide timely information, while reinforcing IMAP's mission, vision and goals. The online library is expected to launch this summer.
