RISI Consolidates Customer View
August 23, 2006
Woburn, MA August 23, 2006 - Bridgeline Software has designed and implemented a new corporate web site for RISI using a web-based infrastructure to deliver information content based upon RISI’s customers’ needs and a client database that provides RISI with a 360° view of their customers, enabling cross-selling and contextual marketing opportunities.
RISI is the leading information provider for the global forest products industry with a mission to create the highest quality information for and about the global forest products industry working with clients in the pulp and paper, wood products, timber, tissue and nonwovens industries. RISI, the premier source of independent economic analysis for the industry, had been acquired by Paperloop, providing over eighty of the leading pulp and paper industry publications for over a century. With additional acquisitions, RISI also became the industry's foremost resource for manufacturing cost benchmarking.
RISI’s challenge was to build a web strategy and consolidate its brand across the entire product line. Critical to the success of RISI moving forward was the design and implementation of a product and client database based on a Service Oriented Architecture framework allowing RISI to re-use components across applications, take advantage of the flexibility to extend or add functionality, and to scale and extend the architecture to match business changes and growth in the future. Bridgeline Software developed and implemented their new brand strategy, web strategy and infrastructure to enable RISI to accomplish their aggressive business goals.
The new content architecture and interface designed and implemented by Bridgeline and RISI enables customers to perceive one unified brand across all media, one access point for their online products, and the visibility into other products and services that customers might require. Regular subscribers have searching and browsing capabilities for all of their content subscriptions. A new online information “store” provides the ability for direct product sales for customers with specific one-time information needs. This new capability has enabled RISI to match information product delivery to the most cost-effective distribution channel.
The client database provides RISI with a foundation for a 360° view of their customers, enabling cross-selling and contextual marketing opportunities. The database also supports security and access to the customer’s online subscriptions so all products and services were available to the client from one online access location. The client database also delivers financial and administrative support for contracts, order fulfillment, invoicing and renewals.
RISI now has the tools to analyze which customers are buying which products and determine where the opportunities are to cross-sell as well as strategically plan the delivery of additional products in the future.
“Our new system has enabled RISI to provide our customers, some of the largest pulp and paper users in the world, the highest quality integrated information access and customer service,” says Liza Turner, Vice President of RISI Sales and Marketing. “We also have a better picture of the type of information our customers are using and what their needs will be in the future.”
